General Summary: Prepare a complete bid for flooring scope of construction project. Analyze bid documents, architectural drawings and specification to prepare flooring takeoff for tile. Confer with engineers, architects and subcontractors on changes and adjustment to cost and estimates. Assess Cost effectiveness of products or services of products, projects or services, track actual costs relative to bids as project develops. Prepare shop drawings for awarded project using CAD softwarPositions reporting to this position: No direct reports
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work for proposals using Bluebeam and Vertigraph.
Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.
Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Maintains files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
Supports other department personnel as required.
Consults with clients, vendors, employees, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering or related filed.
Salary: $45,000.00 /year (21.70/hr)
Experience Requirements: 2 years estimating, controls and/or engineering experience
Special Skills Required: Microsoft Office applications knowledge – particularly Excel;
Preferred Skills / Knowledge: Microsoft Excel/AutoCAD; Intermediate business analysis and vendor management skills; Knowledge of construction materials; Intermediate communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; Quality standards and safety procedures and guidelines understanding. Familiar with the TCNA and MIA Handbooks is a plus. Ability to read blueprints.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift/carry materials, move about the office, turn on and operate a computer in the applicable environment, communicate efficiently and effectively on the telephone or in person, and complete required paperwork.
